SBA was appointed as the lead consultant to redevelop St Williams Church, Ince on behalf of our client to create a new high-quality affordable residential development.
Our proposals were to convert and refurb the existing St Williams Church, Ince into a mix of 10 flats and duplexes. Along with converting the adjacent Presbytery into 3 flats with further development of the site of 14 new build dwellings. All proposed dwellings throughout the proposal consisted of 1-3 bedrooms.
The conversion of the existing church was required due to the fall in congregation numbers. Leaving the church empty for a couple of years. The proposals sought to breathe new life into this neighbourhood, where the church was once the focal point of the community.
When considering the church conversion our key design parameters were to retain as many of the historical internal features. Furthermore careful position interventions into the external facade, whilst not a listed building it is still considered a building of interest.
